May 21, 2016 (12-5pm) Wild Food/Wild Medicine Foraging Walk
This class is a wild walk, talk and sampler. Join bioregional herbalist and wild forager Linda Conroy for this fun afternoon. We will take a plant walk, getting to know the wild plants that are edible and medicinal around us. We will harvest plants to bring back to the kitchen for snacks to sample and for an herbal remedy for healing. Includes instruction, recipes and delicious samples. Join herbalist and forager Linda Conroy to explore the wild plants that grow around us. We will learn about common and uncommon wild plants that can be used for food and medicine. Identification techniques as well as ways to prepare plants for optimal nutrition and healing will be discussed. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. This class will take place at Pheasant Branch Conservancy, 4864 Pheasant Branch Road. Meet in the Conservancy parking lot, and the tour leaves promptly at 10:00am. Enjoy samples and take home a batch of your own handmade cheese curds!Sat, October 1, 2016 (1:30 – 4 pm) Home Creamery: Mozzarella and Feta. Learn how to make two styles of soft cheese, with tips on adding herbs and storing for later use. Samples and cheese to take home included in this hands-on class.Oct 2, 2016 (10:30am – 12:30pm)Herbs and Fermentation for Digestive Health. Sample delicious food and herbal preparations that will delight the senses and support the body and learn simple, easy, and delicious ways to support digestive health.
Oct 2, 2016 (2 – 4:30pm) Making Herbal Healing Beers. Historically, beer was made from many herbs and incorporated into a sacred space for transformation and healing. Glimpse into the history of herbal beers and the healing properties of the herbs used. Instructions, recipes, and samples provided.
Oct 3, 2016 (9am – 4:30pm) At the Root: Wild Food/Wild Medicine. Learn to identify the plants of the season along an herb walk, and enjoy a wild food lunch. Hands-on projects include herbal preparations to take home.
October 11, 2016 (6-8:30pm) Wild Food and Wild Medicine Join Linda Conroy of Moonwise Herbs for this fun and inspiring exploration of foraging and preparing roots for food and medicine. We will work with dandelion, burdock, elecampane, and other roots and prepare them through pickling, tinctures, and drying, as well as grinding them for food, beverages, and medicine. October 27, 2o16 (1-5pm) Teneriffe Lace Woven Ornaments Teneriffe is a form of weaving that uses a base wire, and then weaves a design in the center. The weaver can use a pattern or create a personal design. In this workshop, Linda Conroy from Moonwise Herbs will guide you in making 3-5 lace-woven ornaments that can be hung individually as decoration or integrated into other projects such as coiled baskets or wall hangings. November 19, 2016 (1-5pm) From the Garden: Herbal Infused Oils, Salves, and Lotions Join Linda Conroy of Moonwise Herbs for this fun, experiential class and learn how to make herbal-infused oils with plants from your garden and other simple ingredients. After making infused oils, you will learn how to transform them into salves and lotions. Linda will discuss a wide spectrum of plants and the qualities they lend to salves and lotions. December 10, 2016 (1-5pm) Herbal Gift Making: Hands-On, Interactive & Fun! Join Linda Conroy of Moonwise Herbs for this fun, hand-on class. You will make approximately 10 herbal gift items that you can give to your friends, family, or keep for yourself. The classroom will be set up in stations and you will rotate through, making a different item at each station. Everyone will make lip balm, body spray, felted soap, herbal condiments, herbal salts for foot and bath, lotion bar, dream pillow, herbal tea blend, and much more! Learn about the variety of herbs offered and select herbs that resonate with you. All supplies provided; decorative packaging provided as well.
