All-day Foray with Rebecca Chandler

In this all-day foray, we will discover the many facets of Mycology - from identification and medicinal uses to dyeing natural fibers with mushrooms! This class is designed for the mushroom huntress or enthusiast who is looking to immerse themselves in the mysterious world of funga and emerge more confident and empowered to take the next steps in their mycological journey.

The class will begin with an introduction to mushroom identification, terminology, and morphology so that we are able to better observe and talk about the mushrooms. We will briefly discuss foraging tools and field guides before going into the forest to see all of these characteristics first-hand!

Women will be encouraged to use all of their senses to hone their observation skills. Advanced identification techniques will be discussed such as microscopy, using chemical agents, and using dichotomous keys. Please bring a field guide if you have one.
