Mushrooms From A-Z: Preparing and Growing Fungi for Food and Medicine May 21, 2022

Join us for this day long-hands on program focused on mushrooms

This session takes place on May 21, 2022 (1oam-4:30pm) in Albion, WI

This program will be taught by herbalist and founder of Mycelium Mysteries (A Women’s Mushroom Gathering) Linda Conroy and Ingrid Daudert, soil scientist and mushroom farmer, of Misty Dawn Farm.

We will begin the day learning how to incorporate mushrooms into the kitchen and the apothecary.  Whether you grow, forage or purchase mushrooms, it is easy to bring them into your kitchen and medicine chest. Learn how to best prepare mushrooms for optimal benefit and get inspired to incorporate them into your daily life through this informative workshop.

This program will have 2 parts.

1. Mushrooms in the Kitchen and Apothecary (10am-noon) The first will be spent learning to prepare mushrooms for food and medicine. After a presentation on the healing properties of mushrooms by herbalist Linda Conroy, everyone will make several preparations to take home. In addition, a lunch that will include mushrooms will be served.

2. Mushroom Cultivation (1-4 pm) Ingrid Daudert will talk about mushroom cultivation. This talk will be followed by a hand’s on process of shitake mushroom log inoculation. During the hands-on component, everyone will help to inoculate logs, followed by learning to prepare and inoculate a wine cap mushroom bed. Everyone will take home an inoculated log, as well as handouts, recipes, and instructions. Additional logs will be available for purchase.

This program will be held at Moonwise Herbs Homestead. Directions will be provided upon registration.

This program is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to register early.

Fee: $125  if registered before April 15, 2022, $165 after April 15, 2022
